One week down, a life time to go

Its been a week! This is her right before she came home

It has been exactly a week since I brought Miss Princess Sky home! She is doing really well and thoroughly enjoys her pasture time! She is super sweet and is great with Tolo, the dogs, and the goats. The downfall is that she still seems not 'right' and her mystery owies on her back legs seem to be growing back after they fall off. I just might be calling my vet on Monday to see if I can get her in when we take Max in. Also I am supposed to call the farrier after we figure out if Tolo is going with this girl or not to schedule an appointment for either her or both of them to get done. She pulled another shoe, they were just so poorly put on to begin with. I got an offical 1 week picture with my phone but when my mom gets back tomorrow from her dog show I will take better pictures (hopefully with me!).

Our neighbors that live in front of us have a little 2 year old boy who just loves all our animals but especially Tolo. He loves it when Tolo goes over to their fence so he can pet him and Tolo loves it too! So tonight I saw him out there calling for the horses and so I went out and took miss Sky over to say hi. He has been telling his parents that he wants to ride one but they thought he would be scared so tonight we tried with Tolo and let me tell you the smile on his face so priceless! If horses could smile I know Tolo would have been also, he just LOVES little kids. Im sure there will be many more pony rides in both Brayden and Tolos future together :)
And this is her today!

What a good boy!

Tolo had a young girl come out today to try him out to see if he would work for them to lease. Let me tell you he was a star! He has been ridden 3 times since state in May before today and he just packed her around like he was all that and a bag of chips! I was so proud of him! They are taking the weekend to think about it and will let me know by the end of the weekend. Mean while I got another email tonight and have someone else coming tomorrow to see him. We will see what happens.

Alanna and I rode together tonight and since the hay is all picked up we got the ride in the field! It was so much fun and Mystic loved it! We went galloping around it happily, until he got tired that is haha, and did a little work but mostly just hung out and had a fun ride! I also found out he does lead changes super well and on que already without me ever working on them! WOW! I cant put into words how much I love this horse!
Here are some old pictures since I didnt get any today, however, Alanna said she would take some pictures of Mystic and I riding outside this weekend. So he will but all braided up and clean like he is going to a show so we can get some cute pictures :)

Fingers Crossed

Tomorrow Tolo has two people coming to look at him most likely. One for sure is a 14 year old girl looking for an OHSET and trail horse. Im really hoping he works out for one of them. He is getting pretty fat just sitting in the field :) I rode him today and two days ago and he was pretty good both times considering he hasnt really been ridden since state! So fingers crossed something works out!

On a sad note by dog is headed to the vet next Thursday for xrays to get down to the bottom of his lameness issues. My mom thinks its his knee... Im really hoping its not. He already had a whole hip replacement on that same leg when he was a puppy and I read the likelyhood of the other knee going out after the surgery on the first knee is extremely common. NOT what I need. I dont have $4,000 laying around to fix 2 knees. We already dropped $3,000 on his hip when he was 9 months old :/ its a good thing is the cutest puppy dog out there!
Tolo!

My poor Max. Hopefully he will be fixed soon :)

Sunny Days and Good Ponies!

I have been loving the weather these days! Now that July has hit Oregon has decided to show some summer weather! Mystic has had a couple days off, I lunged him yesterday just because I wasnt really energized to ride and then I rode him today. We had a great ride! We are still struggling a little at the canter but he is making progress which makes me feel good. He makes me feel so bad because he waits at the gate almost all day for me sometimes. Now he is a Gypsy... and is in a grass pasture.... a large grass pasture.... with other horses... and he just sits there at the gate staring at the driveway. Poor guy! He is such a ham for attention :) I love that horse!

Then I came home and filled waters and scooped poop for my two at home. Rearranged some panels and put up some boards that the Princess had knocked down (good thing we got stronger boards already, just need to put them up). After that Princess Sky got a real bath and sprayed her owies and her mysterious gross things between her hind legs. Then I hand grazed her so she could dry so I could brush her off because if you leave the water just wet then it dries all gross and defeats the whole purpose of the bath! Tolo is next on the list for a bath but I am waiting till tomorrow because otherwise he would just get dirty again before his date with a possible new little girl to ride him.
I also put Sky and Tolo out together for the first time. They have been fence buddies and have seemed to like eachother so it was quite uneventful besides Tolo trying to get her to run and play with him lol. All in all the ponies were great today!

Where is my good luck?!

It all started Sunday.I had taken Sky on a trail ride because she looked sound since she got here. Well later that night she wasnt. Im not sure exactly whats up but I am really starting to like her and get attached to her already so that was a huge bummer. Then Monday night after getting back from a great night watching fireworks in Brownsville (worrying about my ponies the whole time!) we came home to find one of our dogs had gotten out of her collar, climbed her kennel fence, then climbed the fence off the property. I hadnt even really worried about the dogs because they had all seen/heard fireworks before but I was wrong. So we drove down out road and up in the forest with no luck at all. So we came home, got to work on fliers, craigslist, reporting lost dog online at the humane society, etc. Mind you this is at midnight. If you cant tell it was a pretty sleepless night. Then today one of my horses, Tolo, decided to try and eat a can of Blu-Kote I accidentally left out after treating Skys owies. He bit through the metal container making it shoot out everywhere. Since it was in his mouth he had it all over his mouth. Wondering how long my horse had to live I called the vet. He laughed at me and said he could send me a brochure on how to feed horses if I would like LOL! He said watch him close but he should be fine. Luckily he is fine, his mouth on the other hand is solid purple! His lips, tongue, and gums are all bright purple and will be for a couple days. He is one strange horse! Hopefully my luck starts going up, Im not sure how much more of this I can take!
Dont let the face fool you, she LOVES to be loved on!

She snuggles :)
Waiting for her ointment stuff to be put on

I may make some rude faces sometimes but please dont leave!

Alive and standing after his incident lol

You cant really see it in any of them but his tongue, gums and lips are bright purple

One Blog is Enough!!

Ok so I am the worlds worst blogger so I have decided just to use one blog for all three of my ponies! That way I will update more often hopefully :)
First off Mystic and Tolo have a new sister now! Her name is Skies the Plan, she is a registered Thoroughbred mare who is 7 years old and raced till this year. She is a big (around 16.3 maybe?) solid bay. She was a rescue of course, on her way to the feedlot before I got her. One of my best friends got a little filly from the same place Sky was at to so we made the journey together to pick them up. She is super sweet, loves to be with you and falls asleep when you groom her. She is thin for my liking (in race horse condition) and has very little muscle in her hind end which we will work on! I took her on her first trail ride yesterday (after having her for less then 24 hours haha) and she was GREAT! I was so happy with her. Then last night I went out and she was pretty sore in her hind end... I was told she got cast in her stall at the racetrack so she may have just thrown her hip out. Hopefully she just needs an adjustment because I really like her! She got all hosed off, legs washed, tail washed and trimmed, her mane trimmed, owies all cleaned and medicated (including her nasty hind legs that she did who knows what to), her teets cleaned and fly repellent applied to her poor belly that was all eaten up. She is such a lover and comes to me when I go out there and just loves to be loved on! Here are some pictures from us bringing them home to yesterday. I need some new ones of her hair cut still :)
Right after loading in to our trailer

Loving the hay in the trailer

Tolo and Sky meeting

First ride since being raced was on the trails, call me brave or call me stupid haha

Such a pretty girl!

As for Tolo and Mystic. Tolo is just hanging out. I have a young girl coming to try him out to lease him on Friday so hopefully he is on his best behavior! Mystic is Mystic. Always on his best behavior and is just a blast to ride. He is coming along SOOOOO good and I am so happy with our progress! Here is a link to a video I took 2 weeks ago or so of his Auntie Alanna riding him! 2nd time she had really ridden him since he has been going so great under saddle!

So much progress!

My friend told me tonight that I need to start getting better at blogging so I will try, that being the key word! Honestly this horse makes me look to good! He is so willing and smart that he jut picks up on things so fast. He is doing incredibly well, everytime I ride him I just think "man I LOVE this horse!". He is steady walk trot canter and his canter is improving daily. His up transition to the canter is great and he is going round at the trot consistently. I need to do some more lateral walk work with him again and work on our transitions up to the trot and continue improving his canter. We are heading to our first eventing derby next weekend and will be rocking trot a trail! I will update with pictures soon as he looks so good now :)
